Well this past weekend we had our first trip to the ER. Poor little Randie couldn't keep anything down. We knew something funny was going on as she woke up at 4 am when she has been sleeping to 6:30 or 7:00. We didn't think much of it and she went back to sleep after eating until about 7:30. We got her up, did some tummy time, and started getting ready to head to Rapid for Randie's cousin Branson's 2nd birthday party. Kyle took Puma over to Rick and Donna's and when he left Randie decided to throw up all over herself! Now this was quite the mess but we were not too concerned as we had had a pretty busy morning.
We gave her a quick bath and got her changed and put in the carseat. Out the door we went. About Hot Springs she got sick again. And then again at Hermosa. By this time we were starting to get worried but still was not too concerned as she would smile after every time and was still trying to eat. We decided to stop at Walmart when we got to town to get a new canister of formula and some wash clothes.
While I ran into Walmart real quick to get some stuff, Randie got sick 2 more times. Kyle and I had both decided this was enough by now. We decided to head to the E.R. On the way, Randie got sick again and actually started choking so we had to quickly get her out of her carseat. We ran into the ER and they got us in quite quickly.
The gentleman in the triage area where they weighed her and got her vitals really helped lighten the mood. While in their Randie got sick again, and he just tipped her over the trash can and gently patted her back telling her "It's ok babe. Just let it out. You are going to do this again when your 21. Just let it out!" That helped us smile a bit.
They got us in to see the doctor and it was Dr. Adam Newman. He was a wonderful doctor and it was hard for us convince him that she was sick as she sat their and giggled and cooed at him. Now we know we are in trouble if she is flirting at 3 1/2 months old ;) They gave her some Zofran and she was finally able to keep some formula down. After a few hours with no puking, they released us to go home with some extra Zofran just in case!
We want to take this time to send a huge shout out to all the doctors and nurses at the hospital in Rapid. They were all absolutely wonderful and treated us and Randie with such great care! We were so lucky to have been so close to a good hospital!
P.S. Randie weighed in at 12 pounds 11 ounces! Holy Moly our little girl is growing up too fast!!
The cute outfit Aunt Katie got her...right before she puked on it! LOL!
Waiting in the ER. Still smiling even though we were not feeling the best! Nothing is worse than seeing your child get sick!
All snuggled up with dad after such a long hard day!
