November 14

Today was a good day! When we got to the hospital this morning, Randie had removed herself from oxygen about midnight last night. She was in the low 90% but was doing very well! We held her while they fed her and we came back to get some breakfast. When we went back to the hospital, Dr. Guerue was there and were able to speak to her. She told us that she was so pleased with how Randie was doing. She said the antibiotic must have worked because her lungs sound great and she is really doing well on respirations! She also said that she does not think that she has any issues with her esophagus (when Kyle was born, his esophagus was not attached right so they were wondering if hers was as well). She said that she had been nervous that we would do the antibiotics for 10 days and then try feeding her and find out about the esophagus and have to fly her out for surgery. Thank goodness we did not have to do any of this and that the antibiotics did what they needed to do. They are thinking she may have aspirated when she arrived and that is how she got pneumonia in her lung. Dr. Guerue had them put her oxygen back on just to keep her in the higher 90s and to make sure she kept her oxygen up during feedings. Today we made our goal of having her eat at least 40cc through the bottle and having the rest fed to her through her feeding tube. This morning she at a little over 40cc which we were so happy about. She was still having issues staying awake so tonight we experimented. She stays more awake when the light in the cubicle is off so we left that little light off (there is still light in the NICU area so it is still pretty well lit) and sure enough she did great. She ate 57cc tonight within 30-35 minutes. Normally after 30 minutes we are lucky if she has 35-40cc down. We were so proud of her! It was definitely a good night, even though she had a great time and the food must have been awesome because she pooped clear up her back and all over Mandy! Guess it won't be the last time one of us gets pooped or puked on :) Thanks again for all your love, support, and prayers! She is getting better everyday and we are so grateful for all the wonderful people in our lives!
Wide awake after our feeding tonight! How do you not love this face?! :)

Today during feeding time...just chilling! She enjoyed being in just her diaper as she could stretch and really get her arms/hands a going. They put her in a shirt with little mittens on it as she likes to grab all her cords and pull them out!
